Learn and Participate in the Recreation District Project

The City of Rexburg is responding to overwhelming feedback from the community that has indicated a desire for a Recreation Center in Madison County. Whether or not to expand indoor recreation offerings for the community with a new Recreation Center depends on multiple factors.

Our goal is to determine what kind of facility the community is seeking and second if we can financially support the project.

As we move through this project, we will be seeking input and opinions from you, our citizens, to ensure that we envision the best possible facility for our community.

Citizen led Committee for a Rec District

In 2022, the City of Rexburg completed the Recreation Center Feasibility Study. The study was done because of identified support for a rec center from the citizens of Rexburg. You can see more about that support in the Envision Madison project and the Parks and Trails project. The feasibility study concluded that the first phase of the plan for a rec center should be the establishment of a Recreation District. Should that come to pass, the Rec District will be comprised of board members that will oversee the vote for, construction, and operation of a rec center. We encourage you to check out the Rec District FAQs to learn more about the district and the costs associated with the project, should it proceed. Keep in mind that everything to date is a proposal only. No changes or tax increases will be implemented until a vote is completed and the measure on the ballot is passed.

Now that the City's study is completed, now it's up to you, the citizens. This means that now it's up to you to push the Rec District forward and get it on the ballot, should it be desired.
