Learn and Participate in the Recreation District Project
The City of Rexburg is responding to overwhelming feedback from the community that has indicated a desire for a Recreation Center in Madison County. Whether or not to expand indoor recreation offerings for the community with a new Recreation Center depends on multiple factors.
Our goal is to determine what kind of facility the community is seeking and second if we can financially support the project.
As we move through this project, we will be seeking input and opinions from you, our citizens, to ensure that we envision the best possible facility for our community.

Feasibility Study Final Results Sharing
PROS Consulting recently completed a Recreation District Feasibility Study. The City wants to know your thoughts on the study. We want to hear from you! Please feel free to share your opinions on the project and whether or not you support this project moving forward in the future.
The study was done in response to overwhelming requests, feedback, and multiple studies from the public that indicated the desire for a Recreation Center in Madison County. This study is to help residents make informed decisions about whether or not there is interest in moving forward with the Rec Center Project.
To learn all the findings of the study, we invite you to review the attached "Rec Center Feasibility Study 12.7.22 Presentation Final" document. See below. (Numbers projected in the study are based on the average home value of $293K after the homeowner exemption of $125K.)
To summarize: The Recreation Center Project is a 2-step process.
- First is voting for a Recreation District that will oversee and run the Recreation Center.
- Second is voting for a Recreation Center Bond that will allow for the construction of the Center.
Financially, what will this look like for the homeowner? To find out what your cost might be, we can break it down to the $100,000 home value mark.
- For every $100K that your home is valued at, the cost for the Rec District is $4.27 per month.
- For every $100K that your home is valued at, the cost for the Rec Center is $10.24 per month.
- So, for every $100K that your home is valued at, the total cost is $14.51 per month.
On top of this cost would also be the facility membership fees. The suggested rate for the facility family membership fee is $40 per month.
The Feasibility Study survey results showed that 75% of residents supported paying for the Rec District and 63% of residents supported paying the Rec Center Bond.
To learn more, be sure to review the attached document for a more in-depth look at the study and its findings.
What are your thoughts? Your opinions matter to us so we can make informed decisions about whether or not to move forward with the Rec District Project.
