New Park Project

There is a new park coming to Rexburg and we want your help maximizing its potential! When designing this park, we're focusing on more adventurous type folks - teenagers, young adults, and older.

The park is split into two sections (South, North) and will be built in multiple phases. The park as a whole will have riverfront access for activities like tubing and kayaking, trails, a bike park, and other amenities.

The park will be primarily funded by Park Impact Fees.

The new park (official name to be determined) will have two sections that will be completed in multiple phases. This first phase of the project focuses on the South section of the park. We have a survey that is asking for your input on the design and amenities we prioritize in this section of the park.

unknown author3 years ago Parks are great and fantastic and wonderful and in (some areas) needed. What Rexburg needs the very most, and I’m sorry to say this so profoundly, but it’s just such an obvious thing that we need. Like we NEED it…BAD!!! We need an indoor water park with an indoor water slide or even a splash pad to start with and work up to a full pool that can be used more than 2 or (maybe) 3 months out of the year.

unknown author3 years ago My family has really hoped Rexburg would create something like this. We have used St. Anthony’s sandbar and Rigby lake many summer days and Rexburg needs a park like this. I think a simple park would be a great addition. I already enjoy this river kayaking and fishing and would love an easier spot to exit or enter the river. I love the bike path near here as well. I love parks and paths that are a place for imaginative playing. I don’t think there is a need to spend a lot of tax dollars creating a park we already have we don’t need courts and playgrounds just a simple area to play.

unknown author3 years ago There are only a few places where the community on the north side of the river and those on the south side can connect (and almost exclusively by car). I hope there could be a trail bridge near this park that could connect the two areas. Having a way to loop around the river from the 2nd East bridge to a bridge near this park would greatly expand the utility of the area while connecting neighborhoods. I’d much rather have a bridge than another basketball court.

unknown author3 years ago I don't feel like the city is taking into consideration the homeowners that live on Barney Dairy road. They built homes there to have a quiet, peaceful neighborhood with a beautiful view of the river and the wildlife that frequents the area. Building there is going to create noise, traffic (both cehicle and foot traffic), trash will be thrown out on the ground, etc. This is a beautiful place and now it will be full of paved sidewalks, biking and running paths and parking lots. There are already several parks in the city. This money could be spent in so many better ways.

unknown author3 years ago I live in Ashton and have 3 kids. We come to Rexburg frequently to play in the parks! Of all the parks in Rexburg, Park Street Park is my favorite for the kids. I like that it is fenced in. My kids love the bike track. I like that there are toys for the small kids. My 6 year old loves the Nature Park because of the big play structure. It is pretty awesome! So for a new park a mix would be awesome! If the park is near water it would be nice to have a sandy beach. Little pools for different ages. Even a fenced area part of water so kids don't float away

unknown author3 years ago The parking lot should change to street parking like Porter park, or Smith park, or have small parking lots through out like the Nature Park by the fair grounds. This would allow the park to be larger and also be more inviting to bikers.Theres lots of students that bike around town and mountain bike, the nature park has a few bike trails which are used daily for entertainment. It’s a pretty simple thing that would bring in several more people.Also make walking paths & biking paths to the park like how the nature park has dedicated bike lanes into the park. This is so that this isn’t only way to access it is through a vehicle.Lastly, take this into consideration I have talked to several people about this that live in Rexburg and they would like see these ideas implemented into the project.
