unknown author3 years ago Is there a way to form neighborhood groups? I'm not certain the best way to get the word out when there are items to discuss, but I feel there must be more civic-minded voices in Rexburg than are showing up. If there were neighborhood representatives, could they help communicate important events, meetings, and even community service?For example, last week I was surprised at how few people attended the Comprehensive Plan Workshop. Surely there must be more that care about the plan for the city of Rexburg. I have to think many did not hear about it.Have other communities had successful neighborhood reps?

unknown author4 years ago 1 Affordable housing.Young families cant afford to live in the family community. I dont think rexburg would do well if it stratified into retired people, and college students, we need everyone in between.2 Transportation/walkability.If we had an uninterrupted trail that was on the side of town where people live, there would be less people on the roads and less traffic3Trees.They are pretty, and cool down the city during heat waves.4 narrower car lanesI'd love to be able to walk across the street without someone going 40 in a 20 on the way to class. like happens infront of windsor manor

unknown author3 years ago Rexburg needs more affordable housing. Housing costs and apartment rent has gone up so much a lot of the community is struggling. A lot of young families cannot keep up with the costs. Rexburg is growing fast and not everyone has a car or can drive. We need a bus or shuttle service similar to the one IF just started. The college students have the Walmart shuttle but that only benefits the college. It does NOT benefit the community because it only goes to select student housing complexes and then Walmart. The community needs a bus service that will take them to several popular spots around town. A lot of people bike and walk here. We need more street lights to help make it safe for those who walk/bike at night. Rigby is a great example of a town that is lit up at night. Also more sidewalks to help make it safe for pedestrians. Quite a few streets in town don’t have sidewalks.

unknown author3 years ago Hopefully you’re day’s going well! The best way to make Rexburg prosper as a community is to adopt our own currency that is gold backed. This would protect us from the ravishes of inflation with is also a hidden tax and the manipulations of the Federal Reserve. It’s like trying to build a home with measurements that constantly change. We need stable sound currency.Bristol England created their own currency and has prospered as a result. They realized that the “economic system extracts wealth from communities, harming the real local economy.” https://bristolpound.org/where-we-have-come-from/ Or we could create our own pay app. It would be awesome to have an East Idaho pay app in the future to protect us and help us prosper like other cities have done. We need to find was to be more independent.
