Currently, the city offers various volunteer opportunities within different departments for various programs. These include recreation, arts, public works, parks, and police.
What sort of project would you be interested in participating in? Is there a community need that you're aware of that you'd like to help fulfill? Would you consider a work-on-your-own-time project or coordinated events centered around community service?

I would love to do service to help our veterans or seniors in our community. Maybe have a sign up of what housework, yard work, or other service veterans or seniors need and then go do it.

Events to serve our seniors, veterans, and disabled residents. Paint the town day, leaf and weed removal, winterizing homes, chopping wood, home repair/handyman. Have the city provide funding for materials, paint, and disposal of rubbish and lawn waste.

What about combining community gatherings and community service to encourage neighbors to serve one another or the community? For example, a neighborhood group could spend an hour picking up trash or weeding along a walking path and then have lunch to celebrate.

I guess I don't pay close enough attention because I am not aware of community service projects happening. I wish I had known! I think service is such an important way to connect to those around us.

Love Flowburg every year! We participate, and then point to the spot every time we are downtown in the summer. A work-on-your-own project or community cleanup. Would be great as well.
